Game wardens on patrol in Paphos on Saturday night chased two men on a quad bike whom they believed were poaching in the Tsada area.
The two got away but left behind the bike, which turned out to have been stolen.
According to police, the Game Fund officers who were on patrol around 8.45pm identified two people aboard the quad bike as being suspected poachers.
They chased them down but the two got away on foot, abandoning the bike.
In conjunction with police, the wardens established that the bike had been stolen from a 58-year-old in Paphos, to whom it was then returned.
